Power Spice with a capital "P"

I'm sure most of you have heard of Turmeric. However, I'll admit I had no idea this amazing spice even existed until about a year ago. Who would have thought it would become such an important part of my daily regime? So, what IS this mystery spice and what is all the hype about? Well, turmeric comes from the root of the Curcuma longa plant and is mostly known as an ingredient in curry as well as giving mustard its bright color. Who knew?! This orange spice offers a plethora of health benefits which is what makes it so easy to incorporate into your life.


Turmeric is a natural antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial agent. It improves digestion, is used as a preventative for various cancers and assists in digestion. It also helps lower cholesterol, treats skin conditions such as eczema and is great for weight management. Sold yet? If not, these are only a few of the amazing benefits this unique orange spice has to offer. You can add it to rice dishes, steamed veggies, egg/chicken salad, etc. I personally like to have it every day in my morning concoction. It consists of hot water, 1 tsp of raw honey, 1 tsp of coconut oil, 1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar, lemon juice and 1tbsp of turmeric. You can also buy turmeric in the capsule form if the powder consistency creeps you out.
